TRANSITION PLANNING WORKSHOP – MARCH 6

Martha Lawson, Seattle Public Schools Special Education Supervisor for Transition Services, is putting on a workshop for parents on Transition Planning, Saturday, March 6, 9:00 AM-1:00 PM, Location to be announced.  The workshop will provide families with an understanding of the documentation, tools, and steps needed to plan for their child’s transition to post-public school life.  Seattle Special Ed PTSA member Lynne Tucker will provide information on testing timelines and other steps to prepare your secondary student for college.   For more information, contact cross-whiter@comcast.net or seattlespedptsa@gmail.com

 

OXFORD AND LONDON JOURNEY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WITH ASD

ASPERGER POST-SECONDARY TRANSITION PRESENTATION – MARCH 22

An opportunity for both parents and students to learn more about the post-secondary transition for those with Asperger’s Syndrome and related atypical neuro-development. Information presented by Deborah Zawada from UW’s DO-IT Program and from Aspiring Youth’s Delphi Resources. GOING TO COLLEGE WEBSITE FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
This new website has been developed to help high school students learn about living college life with a disability. The site provides video clips, activities, and resources that can help students get a head start in planning for college. Video interviews with college students with disabilities offer a way to hear firsthand from students with disabilities who have been successful. Modules include activities that will help students explore more about themselves, learn what to expect from college, and equip them with important considerations and tasks to complete when planning for college.

TALISAIL PROGRAM
